COCLT
HOMEBUYER PROCESS

Thank you for looking at our Homebuyer Process for the Central Ohio Community Land Trust (COCLT). Here is a quick overview of how you can become a COCLT Homeowner.

ATTEND A COCLT ORIENTATION CLASS

Once you attend, you can decide if you are interested in our program and return our Homebuyer Questionnaire to let us know your area of interests for a home purchase.

TAKE PART IN OUR DRAWING PROCESS

Due to high demand for COCLT homes, a Homebuyer Selection Drawing Process is used to randomly determine who has the opportunity to purchase a COCLT home. A drawing is conducted for each development project.

WORK WITH OUR COCLT STAFF TO BECOME ELIGIBLE

Participants in the drawing will be given a number from the drawing and a buyer list will be established. The COCLT staff will begin working with Active Buyers (participants with a low number from the drawing) and work with these individuals to complete the COCLT 5 Steps to Homeownership Eligibility.

LEARN MORE

After the successful completion of the 5 Steps to Homeownership Eligibility, the COCLT will conduct a Land Lease Class with you and your realtor to ensure a clear understanding of all aspects to the Land Lease that governs the relationship between you, the soon-to-be homeowner, and the COCLT.

GET TO THE FINISH LINE

When the Land Lease Class is completed, and the house you have selected is under construction, the COCLT will enter a Real Estate Purchase Contract with you. Closer to the time of a closing, pre-closing documentation will be discussed and completed, as well as a final walk-through of the home.

The program is available to all Franklin County residents that successfully complete the 5 Steps to Homeownership Eligibility within the timeframes outlined throughout the process!
